2011

e_Djing, the web platform

Before the app, edjing was a website: a free music video streaming platform built on YouTube, with two virtual turntables to mix, an automatic transition mode, and playlist import from iTunes and Deezer. Sources: Presse-citron, March 2011, Magazine Audio, November 2011.

edjing v1 on iPhone

October to December 2012

iPad, Android, and the first millions

The iPad version arrives in October, Android on 14 November 2012. edjing is shown at LeWeb 2012, becomes the top music app on iPhone in 25 countries, and passes 2 million downloads and 600,000 users in December. Sources: Presse-citron, Begeek, Google Play.

March 2013

Best app at LeMobile 2013

edjing wins the App Award for best application of the year at the LeMobile conference in Paris. Sources: Viuz, Wydden.

April to June 2013

SoundCloud, a paid edition, and Windows 8

edjing is the first DJ app to integrate SoundCloud. A paid-upfront “Premium Edition” launches on iPad. In June, edjing lands on Windows 8 and Surface with Microsoft, covered by The Verge, Engadget and PCWorld. 4 million downloads in 170 countries. Sources: Rude Baguette, Windows blog, Frenchweb.

September 2013

10 million downloads, Deezer’s co-founder joins

DJiT raises $2.5M from Entrepreneur Venture and Daniel Marhely, co-founder of Deezer, as edjing passes 10 million downloads. Sources: TechCrunch, Rude Baguette.

2014

15 million, Google “Top Developer”, Windows Phone

March to May 2015

Mixfader: the first Bluetooth crossfader

Shown at SXSW in March, the Mixfader goes to Kickstarter on 27 May 2015 and raises €95,174 on a €50,000 goal. Designed with the DMC champions 9 O’Clock. Sources: The Next Web, DJWORX.

April to September 2015

edjing Pro and edjing 5

edjing Pro, a separate app for semi-pro and pro DJs built on a new audio engine, is announced on 23 April 2015 (Android in April, iOS in August). In September, edjing 5 rebuilds the flagship app with a new interface and the same engine. Sources: DJWORX, Android Police, DJWORX, edjing 5.

January to April 2016

edjing Scratch and the Mixfader launch

At CES 2016 the Mixfader ships and edjing Scratch is announced: the first app dedicated to scratching, one vinyl, full screen, released in April on Android and iOS. 21 September 2016

edjing Mix, sixth generation

The app takes its current name, edjing Mix, adds DVS control with timecode vinyl, a new sampler and hardware integration, and edjing is featured on Apple’s iPhone 7 page. Sources: DJ TechTools, iGeneration.

November 2016

Music industry leaders back the team behind edjing

DJ and producer Martin Solveig and Jean-Charles Carré, David Guetta’s manager and business partner, invest in DJiT, the company behind edjing that would become MWM. Both join its advisory board, bringing music industry experience to the company’s next chapter. Sources: EPF, the MWM story.

June to September 2017

DJiT becomes MWM; edjing Mix passes 50 million

2018 to 2019

Phase, born from the edjing team

October 2018 to September 2019

100 million downloads

edjing Mix passes 75 million downloads in October 2018 and 100 million in September 2019. 2019 is the biggest year in the app’s history, with 30.7 million downloads, and August 2019 the biggest month, 3.9 million. 2020 to 2022

More than 20 million downloads a year

Spotify inside edjing Mix

Spotify Premium subscribers can now browse and mix Spotify’s catalog, their playlists and liked songs directly in edjing Mix, on iPhone and Android, with Automix and the full DJ toolkit. Announced by Spotify in the update of its “DJ software integration” release, alongside VirtualDJ and Cross DJ (rekordbox and djay had joined in December 2025).
